
The North East Autism Society have an existing Training Centre at their New Warlands Farm site.
The intent of this project was to expand upon this and enhance the facilities for neurodivergent young people, giving them the opportunities to train in varied work-based skills with an aim to long term employment. The project was also to incorporate a public access visitor centre, retail areas, workshop areas and a working apple press / cider making facility.
To allow young neurodivergent people the opportunity to develop new vocational skills.
To respect the local & rural surroundings.
Acknowledge the palette of materials typically used in the area & on agricultural structures.
To achieve a desirable rural appearance with a modern look.
To incorporate separate lettable retail & workshop units to allow for expansion or reduction as required.
Include operational facilities, staff rooms, first aid room & toilet facilities.
Allow for a visitor café with internal & external seating opportunities.
