The project was for a new dwelling to be formed on the site of the former Mount Olivet Chapel. The former chapel building was redundant, suffering from decay over time and was finally demolished in 1946. The site had since mostly been used as a rough parking and dumping area.
The intent of redeveloping the site to a family home was to bring use and rejuvenation to the location that had essentially become an area of rubble. Acknowledging the former building; the scale, form and massing would be proportionate to that of the original Chapel, with the materials of construction locally sourced to be sympathetic to its surroundings.
The existing adjacent graveyard would be retained and unaltered, though tidied up, in order to give it the prominence it deserves.
